Michael V. Parras, Jr. is a litigation attorney who joined the firm as an associate in May 2005. He focuses primarily on complex commercial disputes, professional malpractice, catastrophic personal injury litigation, and insurance defense.
Mr. Parras's recent achievements include successfully arbitrating an action on behalf of a national tax preparation firm against a former employee who used the firm's confidential information to solicit and engage clients after he resigned from the firm. The arbitrator awarded Michael's client $226,000 in damages. In addition, Michael defeated the former employee's claim that he was a non-exempt employee of the firm and entitled to overtime pay.
Michael graduated from Brandeis University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and History. In 2004, he received his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law. During law school, he participated in the Boston University Civil Litigation Program and was an active member of the Latin American Law Students Association.
Michael has appeared before a variety of state and federal courts and has experience litigating cases in court and through arbitration, and in resolving matters through mediation. He is admitted to practice in both federal and state court in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.
