Areas of Practice

Ronald W. Dunbar, Jr. is a trial lawyer with over fifteen years of experience in civil litigation. He focuses primarily on commercial litigation, adversary proceedings in bankruptcy court, construction litigation and insurance defense litigation,which includes products liability and motor vehicle cases.

Mr. Dunbar has tried cases and appeared before a variety of state and federal courts and administrative agencies including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Social Security Administration and the Department of Industrial Accidents. Prior to Dunbar Law, Mr. Dunbar was a partner at a prestigious Boston firm where he represented multinational corporations, Fortune 500 companies and individuals in the areas of bankruptcy, lender liability and sophisticated contractual and commercial disputes.

Mr. Dunbar represents clients in disputes regarding the ownership and control of closely held corporations, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and claims to establish the priority and enforceability of security interests under the Uniform Commercial Code. His insurance defense experience includes representing a worldwide manufacturer and marketer of tools and specialty hardware products as well as a regional manufacturer of structural insulating panels. Mr. Dunbar was featured in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly after winning summary judgment in a case of first impression in Massachusetts relating to the coordination of benefits under the Massachusetts no fault insurance statute.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Dunbar is an adjunct professor of law at Southern New England School of Law where he teaches courses focusing on the constitutional and jurisdictional issues of the federal courts and administrative law. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, and he received his Juris Doctor from Marshall College of Law in 1994.

Mr. Dunbar is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine. He is admitted to practice in federal district court in Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Mr. Dunbar is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Rhode Island Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Volunteer Lawyers Project.
